Centennial Collegiate Principal's Welcome - 2024

Dear Participants and Guests,

Welcome to Centennial Collegiate for what promises to be an exciting start to the basketball season. We are delighted to continue our tradition of hosting this early season tournament and are thrilled to announce the addition of a girl’s bracket this year. Welcome to Charger territory—we hope you enjoy an outstanding experience as athletes, coaches, and fans.

The Charger Charity Classic stands out in our province for combining a high-caliber basketball experience with a philanthropic mission. To date, the Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital Foundation has benefited from over $30,000 raised through this event, and we aim to significantly increase that total this year. This tournament truly embodies a win-win spirit!

Mr. Kory Dawe, who currently teaches at Evan Hardy Collegiate, originally conceived this special event. This year, Mrs. Brimacombe and Mr. Mirtle will co-chair the Charger Classic. Their dedication, passion, and commitment to basketball have made this tournament possible. With their leadership, the staff and students of Centennial have enthusiastically embraced this opportunity, transforming it into a true community event. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in our learning community for their unwavering support.

To the athletes and coaches, we wish you a fantastic experience. We strive to create an environment that highlights both athleticism and sportsmanship. To the fans, please enjoy the talent on display and cheer loudly while maintaining a positive spirit! As you leave our school gym, take pride in knowing you have contributed to strengthening our school and community. Have a wonderful tournament.

Sincerely,
Wendy Benson

History Of the Centennial Charger Charity Classic

The C4 was first started in the fall of 2010. The intent was to create a unique basketball tournament environment that brought together some of the best competition from around the province - both big cities and small cities. Ultimately, we wanted to do something truly unique in our community, and that meant more than just basketball...

There are two significant charity groups that our school has worked with since the doors opened in 2006: Holiday Family Hampers and the Children's Hospital Foundation. It made logical sense to incorporate these charities into the tournament focus and the C4 has become one of a kind with its charity driven purpose.
